Are You Struggling In Your Life?
Life as we know it can have happy and joyful moments, as well as feelings of frustration and sadness. We struggle because we tend to focus on our problems instead of the more positive aspects of life.
Unfortunately, many people would rather take a pill than face their issues. Facing your issues requires you to be honest, vulnerable, and strong. We rely on others to tell us what to say and do and consistently crave that outside validation. We feel this is what will make us “happy”.
I have been helping people in the area of self-discovery for over 20 years. I’ve found that the #1 reason people struggle is that they don’t have a purpose and are living their lives through monotonous routines and unfulfilled desires.
Start by asking yourself questions
What do you want in your life? What type of work excites you? Do you have the right supportive people in your life? These questions will help you start understanding the journey you are on. We are all on a journey. A journey of self- discovery and it all starts with YOU.
Do any of these (7) statements sound like something you would say or think?
- I believe success can only be achieved by accumulating wealth and social status…
- I looked for my career instead of listening to my inner calling…
- I believe that you have to live by the boxes you check – graduate from college, get married, have kids, settle in a job, and wait until you retire…
- I don’t like being uncomfortable and moving outside of my comfort zone. I like feeling safe and secure…
- I am afraid of what I will find if I discover more about myself…
- I feel like I don’t have a purpose…
- I tell myself that I am worthy, but I don’t feel or act like it…
Any of these statements can make you struggle in your life. These are common for people that don’t have the direction that they wish they had in life. Many are experiencing a sense of aimlessness.
All it takes is a shift in perception
Focus on what you want in your life instead of focusing on what is not going right. All you need is direction. Success in life boils down to just enjoying every moment. Life is about living in the present. In the NOW. The past is done and over with and the future is undetermined.
You need to take action. Your life will not improve if you do nothing. Staying stagnant and existing in life is not living. We all have a purpose in life. Many of you are living from the outside in – not the inside out. Think about that. Again, it all starts with YOU. You are 100% responsible for what you say, think, act, feel, and believe. Nobody else but you can make changes in your life.
Are you in a profession that has grown stale and you don’t know if you are in the right career at all? Do you feel your relationships are not meaningful to you? These questions may feel impossible to answer when you have no idea what drives you. Purpose is what guides you to your next move in life…
You are living your life reactively
Working with someone who specializes in self-discovery will help you uncover your life purpose. It starts with asking those probing questions so that you understand what your strengths and core values are. Understanding them leads you to fully value and appreciate your worth. Do you want to look back at your life when you are in your 70s or 80s and regret your choices because you had a lack of purpose? Your life purpose is not something you attain at the end of your life. It is something you live right here – right now. Knowing your purpose makes your life more meaningful and you are here to make a difference. We are all being called to serve. When you are doing something that you love, happiness is certain.
